Retro-future homes

I love these old retro-future ads. Jo Kotula, illustrated this 1958 ad for the Vanadium Corporation of America.

Fifty years ago, futurists saw homes being constructed of metal and glass with solar energy being the sole source of power. There was a lot of optimism back in the 50's. Of course, the 60's were a different story. Later, I am going to search for some retro-future home ads from the late 60's.

It interesting to consider the impact culture and economic cycles have had on past housing designs and consumer demands. Calgary's boom and bust cycles, have had huge impact on urban development and home design in the city.

  3. Hey I my friends I tell you something can you give me answer. We know you can hire the services of a Pest Control Operator to perform your termite inspection. Typical costs run between $100-$150. But did you know that the exact same inspection can be done by us during your home inspection at no additional charge. The difference is that we don’t sell you chemical treatments, preventative programs or annual contracts. Of course if we find termites, carpenter ants or carpenter bees, we can refer you to our network of licensed exterminators for proper and safe eradication. Here is a list of questions you might be asking yourself.Long Island Home Inspection

  4. Thanks for share this post I also share with you some more traveling tips hope this helpful for you Assess the severity of the problem. Are there a few easily filled depressions, or does the area around the house require major regrading? Order a delivery of fill dirt (unless you have some available on your property) and fill in the small depressions if these are your only problems. You can probably find your fill at a local construction site or at a local nursery or landscaping supply house. Allow the dirt to settle, and check back in a few days (after a rain). If the area is still depressed, add more fill. Consult with an excavation contractor or a landscaper with grading experience if your yard requires more extensive work. The job may require the operation of heavy equipment or the installation of foundation drains and other projects beyond the ability of most home owners. Discuss options with the contractor. Make sure you discuss the impact of the work on your property, such as tree removal or damage to shrubs and other landscaping. Be aware that this kind of work will probably cause considerable damage; allow room in your budget for seeding, sod and plantings.
